Western
Pacific Railroad Historical Society
General Information
What
is the WPRRHS?
The
Western Pacific Railroad Historical Society was formed as a division
of the Feather River Rail Society (FRRS),
operators of the Western Pacific Railroad Museum. While the FRRS has worked
tirelessly to obtain and preserve equipment from, and related to,
the Western Pacific Railroad, little emphasis was placed on the
preservation of WP artifacts, history and memorabilia through the
maintenance of an archives or library. In 1996, several FRRS members
worked to create the WPRRHS as a division of the FRRS to carry out
the duties of a WP historical society that were not related to the
daily functions of the museum operations. The WPRRHS is proud to
be part of the FRRS as few railroad historical societies have such
an extensive collection of preserved locomotives, rolling stock
and facilities all in one collection.
Our
Mission...
The
Western Pacific Railroad Historical Society (WPRRHS) was formed
with two primary goals:
1.
The collection and preservation of documents, photographs, memorabilia,
oral history and other artifacts of, and pertaining to, the history
and operation of the railroad known as the Western Pacific Railroad
and its subsidiaries, connecting short lines and related industrial
railroad operations through the Arthur Walter Keddie Library located at the Western Pacific Railroad Museum in Portola, California.
2.
The dissemination of said information through FRRS and WPRRHS publications,
library services, historical seminars, conventions, guest lectures
and FRRS/WPRRHS social functions and public events.
Membership

WPRRHS members and will receive The
